To add an M3U playlist, open Settings → Playlist → Add playlist in AromaOtt Player, choose the M3U URL tab and paste the http:// or https:// address from your provider. Select Check playlist; when it says Playlist found, save it. The new playlist becomes your active one, and Live TV, Movies and Series then come from it.
What do I need?
- A member account, signed in, with a running subscription.
- The M3U address from your provider. It starts with http:// or https:// and often ends in
.m3uor.m3u8, but it can also be a longer address with your username and password in it. - Your provider must allow members to add their own playlists. If not, the player shows Your provider has turned off adding your own playlist.
Only add playlists you are entitled to use. AromaOtt Player does not supply playlists or content of its own.
How do I add it, step by step?
- Open Settings → Playlist. In the Android app you can also choose Add playlist on the home screen when nothing is loaded yet.
- Select Add playlist (or Add another playlist if you already have one).
- Choose the M3U URL tab.
- Paste the address in Playlist URL. On a TV you can type it with the on-screen keyboard, but pasting on a phone or computer is much easier.
- Optionally, give it a name, for example "Home line". Without one, it is called "AromaOtt".
- Select Check playlist. The player downloads the file and shows what it found: the server and the number of channels, movies and series.
- Select Save playlist (in the app: Load it now). The player loads your channels and opens the home screen with the new playlist active.
What does the check look for?
The check makes sure the address really returns an M3U playlist with entries in it before anything is saved. You see one of these results:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Playlist found | All good: save it. |
| That address isn't a valid http:// or https:// link | Typo, or another kind of address. |
| The server didn't answer | Wrong address, server down, or an https server with an invalid certificate. |
| This link doesn't return an M3U playlist | The address returns something else, such as a web page. |
| The playlist is empty | The file has no entries. |
| This playlist is too large to load | The file is over 40 MB. |
| This address points to a private or local network | Addresses on your home network or similar are not accepted. |
Which address forms work?
- http and https, with or without a port, for example
http://example.com:8080/list.m3u. - An address without a scheme is treated as http.
.m3u,.m3u8, no extension, and server addresses that build the file on request.- Addresses with spaces or non-Latin characters in the path, and host names in any language.
- Servers that redirect a few times, or send the file compressed.
https servers with an invalid or self-signed certificate are refused. Such servers usually work over http.
How many times can I check?
To protect providers and our server, each member can save 5 playlists and run 20 checks or refreshes per hour. If you reach the limit, the player tells you how many minutes to wait. Only one check per member runs at a time; if you start a second one too early, wait a moment and try again.
What happens to the playlist my provider set up?
Nothing. The provider playlist stays as it is. Adding your own playlist makes it the active one; you can switch back at any time from the Playlist button on the home screen or in Settings → Playlist. While your own playlist is active, Live TV, Movies and Series all come from it.
Where does the playlist play?
Unless the operator set it to play through our server, your own playlist plays directly on your device: the Android app loads the lists and the streams itself, from your connection. In a browser, http addresses face extra limits, explained in the direct play article.
How do I change or remove it later?
In Settings → Playlist you can Rename, Refresh (check it again and update the counts) or Remove each playlist. Removing the active playlist activates the next one, or the provider playlist.
