An AromaOtt activation code is a one-time code of 8 characters, for example ABCD-EFGH, that the operator gives you with your access. You type it in the app or on the sign-in page instead of a username and password, and it signs you in on that one device. A code works once and expires after a few days.
Where do I get an activation code?
Only from the operator who manages your member account. The operator creates a code for your account and sends it to you through the same channel you received your access from. There is no way to request a code in the app or on aromaott.com, because there is no public sign-up.
How do I use it in the Android app?
- Open AromaOtt Player on your phone, tablet or TV.
- On the sign-in screen, choose Activate with a code.
- Type the 8 characters. Capital or small letters both work, and the dash is optional.
- Select Activate.
On a TV, you pick the characters with the remote on the on-screen keyboard. If you would rather not, sign in with a TV code approved on your phone instead.
How do I use it on the website?
- Open the sign-in page on aromaott.com.
- Choose I have an activation code. The username and password fields are replaced by one code field.
- Type the code and sign in.
To go back to the normal form, choose Sign in with username and password.
What happens after I enter the code?
- If your account uses two-step sign-in, you are asked for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app next. The activation code is only used up once that step succeeds.
- If your account is already on as many devices as it allows, you see the list of devices using it and can sign one of them out. The activation code stays unused until the sign-in really completes, so you do not lose it.
- Otherwise you are signed in and the player opens.
Why does it say my code is not valid?
The messages tell you exactly what happened:
- That activation code is not valid: a character is wrong. Check for typos.
- This activation code has already been used: it was used on a device, possibly this one. Ask for a new one.
- This activation code has expired: it is older than its validity period. Ask for a new one.
- This activation code was cancelled: the operator revoked it. Ask for a new one.
Every wrong attempt counts as a failed sign-in. After too many in a short time, sign-in is paused for a few minutes for your connection. This protects accounts from people guessing codes.
Which characters can appear in a code?
Capital letters and the digits 2 to 9. Letters that are easy to confuse, such as O and I, are left out, and so are 0 and 1. If you think you see an O, it is not a zero, and vice versa: neither appears.
Is an activation code the same as a TV code?
No. They look alike but do different jobs:

Does a code tell the operator anything?
The operator can see whether a code is active, used, expired or revoked, and when it was used, with the device name and platform. This is the same kind of record as for any sign-in; the privacy page lists what is kept and for how long.
Can admin accounts use a code?
No. Codes are for member accounts only. Admin accounts always sign in with a password and two-step sign-in.
