To find a channel fast in AromaOtt Player, use the two searches in Live TV: the category search finds every matching category with its number of channels, and the channel search looks through all channels at once and shows each one's category under its name. An A–Z strip jumps through long lists, and your recent categories stay at the top.
How is Live TV laid out?
Live TV has categories, channels and the picture:
- On a TV, a computer and a tablet in landscape, categories and channels sit side by side, each in its own column that scrolls on its own, next to the picture.
- On a phone, or a tablet held upright, you go in two steps: first the categories, then the channels of the one you picked.
Live TV starts playing straight away when you open it: the last channel you watched in this playlist, or else the first channel of your last category.
How do I search for a category?
- Select the category search at the top of the categories column (Search categories…).
- Type part of a name, for example a country or a theme.
- The column shows every category that matches, with its number of channels, and says how many matched. If none does, it tells you so.
This is useful when your playlist has many categories with similar names: one word brings them all together.
How do I search for a channel?
- Select the channel search at the top of the channels column.
- Either search in the category you have open, or choose Search all channels to look through the whole playlist.
- In a search across all channels, each result shows its category under its name, so you can tell apart channels with the same name in different categories.
Both searches ignore capital letters and accents. On a TV, select the search pill and press OK to open the keyboard.
What is the A–Z strip?
Long lists of categories or channels get a strip of letters along the edge. Select a letter to jump to the first name that starts with it, instead of scrolling through hundreds of names.
What are recent categories?
The categories you opened recently are kept at the top of the categories column, under Recent. They are remembered for each playlist separately, so switching playlists does not mix them up.
How do I change channel without going back to the list?
- Channel up / Channel down on a remote.
- Up and Down in full screen on a TV.
- Swipe up or down on the picture on a phone or tablet.
In full screen you can also open the categories and channels without leaving full screen, on touch screens and with the remote.
How do I keep my usual channels close?
Add them to Favourites: tap ♡ on a channel, or long-press OK on a TV. Favourite channels then have their own row. The favourites article explains the details.
What does the dot next to LIVE mean?
On playlists that play on your device, a small dot next to LIVE shows the connection quality. Buffering or Reconnecting appears over the picture while it waits. If channels often cut out, see the article on buffering.
Does Movies and Series have a search too?
Yes. Movies and Series categories can be searched the same way, and each section has its own search for titles.
Why don't I see some sections?
The home and Live TV show only what the active playlist has. A section with nothing in it says so, for example No channels in this playlist. AromaOtt Player contains no channels of its own: what you find is what your playlist provides.
