Continue watching: how resume points and watched marks work

Movies and episodes resume where you stopped, on any device of your account. Series show watched marks, and Continue watching brings you back in one step.

AromaOtt Player remembers where you stopped in every movie and episode and saves it with your account, so you can continue on any of your devices. The home screen's Continue watching row brings you back in one step, and series show which episodes you have watched, which are in progress and which come next.

What is saved, and when?

For each movie and episode you play, the player keeps:

  • the position where you stopped;
  • whether you finished it (a watched mark);
  • for series, the season and episode.

The position is saved regularly while you watch, and again when you pause, close the player or reach the end, so even an interrupted session resumes close to where it stopped. Live channels have no resume point: live is always now.

Where do I find what I was watching?

  • Continue watching on the home screen lists the movies and episodes you started and did not finish.
  • In a series, the button Continue S2 E5 (for example) starts the next episode to watch.
  • In the episode list, each episode shows Watched, In progress with a percentage, or Not watched.

How does resuming work?

  1. Open a movie or an episode you started.
  2. The player shows Resume from 42:10 (for example) and Start over.
  3. Choose one. When you resume, the player briefly confirms Resumed at 42:10.

With Autoplay on in the web player, titles resume where you left off without asking, and the next episode or channel starts by itself.

What happens at the end of an episode?

The player shows a short countdown, Next episode in … s, with Play now and Cancel. If you do nothing, the next episode starts and the one you finished is marked as watched.

Does it work across devices?

Yes. Resume points and watched marks are saved with your account on our server, not only on the device. Start a movie on your phone on the way home, open it on your TV, and it continues from the same place. The Android app also keeps a copy on the device so it can show your progress instantly; that copy is deleted when you sign out.

How do I change a watched mark?

In a series' episode list:

  • Mark as watched to skip an episode you saw elsewhere.
  • Mark as not watched to watch it again from the start. This also deletes its resume point.

Why did a title not resume?

  • Another playlist: progress is linked to the title in the playlist it was played from. If you switched playlists, switch back.
  • The provider changed the title: if the provider replaced the movie or renumbered the episodes, the player may no longer recognise it.
  • You chose Start over: the new position replaces the old one as you watch.
  • It was a live channel: live channels do not resume.

Is my watch history private?

Resume points and watched marks are only used to run the player for you. They are kept until you mark a title as not watched or the account is deleted. The operator's administrators can see watch history to help you with problems. The privacy page lists everything, with retention periods.

Does progress work for my own playlists?

Yes. Resume points and watched marks work the same for the provider playlist and for the M3U or Xtream playlists you added, including playlists that play directly on your device. Each one keeps its own progress, because its titles are its own.

Do I need to add titles to My List to resume them?

No. Anything you start is in Continue watching on its own. My List is for titles and channels you want to keep at hand before or after watching.
