Your AromaOtt account can be signed in on a set number of devices at once. When the limit is reached, the player lists the devices using your account: choose one and select Sign out there and continue here, and you are signed in on the new device. You can also sign out on the old device, or remove it from your account page, to free its place.

What counts as a device?

Each app installation and each browser you sign in on takes one place: your phone, your tablet, your TV and your computer's browser are four devices. Two different browsers on the same computer count as two. The limit is set by the operator with your access; your account page shows it, for example 1 of 2 in use.

A separate limit applies to streams: how many devices may play at the same time. If another device starts playing and you are over that limit, one of them shows Playing on another device with a Watch here button to take the stream back.

How do I free a place?

There are four ways:

  1. Sign out on the device you no longer want to use. In the app (2.2.3 or later) and on the website, signing out frees that device's place at once.
  2. Remove it from your account. Open My account → Devices, find the device and select Remove device. Its place is free immediately, and that device is signed out at its next request.
  3. Pick it when the limit is reached (see below).
  4. Sign out everywhere. In your account, Sign out everywhere ends every session on every device and frees all places. Use it if you think someone else has your password.

What happens when the limit is reached?

When you try to sign in on a new device and all places are taken, you see This account is on too many devices with the list of devices that hold a place:

  • the device name, for example the model name the app sent or the browser and system;
  • its type: TV, tablet, phone or computer;
  • when it was last used.

Choose the device you want to replace and select Sign out there and continue here. That device stops playing at once and is signed out, and the new one signs in. This works with a password, an activation code or a TV code; an activation code is not used up until this step completes.

The choice is valid for 5 minutes. If you wait longer, the player says This took too long. Please sign in again.

What about devices I can't reach any more?

A phone that was reset, a TV that was sold or an app that was uninstalled never signs out by itself. Two things handle that:

  • You can remove it in My account → Devices at any time.
  • A device that has not been used for 30 days (the operator can change this) is signed out automatically when another device needs its place. The list then shows it was Signed out by itself after 30 days without use.

Does removing a device delete my data?

No. Your account, My List on the app, your resume points and watched marks stay with your account. Only that device's sign-in ends. On the device itself, the app deletes its local copy of the catalogue and your details when you sign out.

Why is there a device limit at all?

It is part of your access: the operator sets how many devices may use one account. It also protects you: if your password is used on a device you do not know, it shows up in your device list, with its last IP address and country, and you can remove it.

What if the list shows a device I don't recognise?

  1. Remove it in My account → Devices.
  2. Ask the operator to reset your password.
  3. Choose Sign out everywhere and sign in again on your own devices.
  4. Consider turning on two-step sign-in, if it is available for your account.

Questions and answers

Does signing out free my device place?

Yes. Since app 2.2.3, signing out in the app or on the website frees that device's place at once, so another device can use it.

Who decides how many devices I can use?

The operator, as part of your member access. Your account page shows how many places are in use, for example 1 of 2.

What about a device I lost or reset?

Remove it in your account, or choose it in the list when the limit is reached. A device unused for 30 days (by default) is also signed out by itself when another device needs its place.
