If your TV has no Downloader and no working browser download, install AromaOtt Player from a USB stick: open aromaott.com/apk on a computer to download the APK, copy it to a USB stick, plug it into the TV, open the file with the TV's file manager and allow that file manager to install apps. The TV must run Android 7.1 or newer.
When do I need the USB route?
- The TV has no Google Play and its own store has no Downloader.
- The TV's browser cannot download files, or does not open downloaded APKs.
- You have several TVs to set up and want to copy the same file to each.
On Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) sets, an APK cannot be installed at all, by USB or otherwise. Use the web player or a stick there.
What do I need?
- A computer with a browser.
- A USB stick, ideally formatted FAT32 (or exFAT on recent sets).
- A TV or box with Android 7.1 or newer and a free USB port.
- A file manager on the TV. Most sets have one, often called File Manager, Files or Media Center. Names vary by firmware version. If yours has none, install a file manager from the TV's store.
How do I prepare the stick?
- On the computer, open aromaott.com/apk. The browser downloads the current APK, named like
aromaott-2.2.6.apk. - Plug in the USB stick and copy the APK onto it. Put it at the top level of the stick, not inside folders, so it is easy to find with the remote.
- Eject the stick safely from the computer.
You can check the version number against the one shown on aromaott.com/app.
How do I install from the stick?
- Plug the stick into the TV's USB port.
- Open the TV's file manager and select the USB stick.
- Select the APK file and press OK.
- The TV may say that installing from this source is blocked. Choose Settings in that message, turn on Allow from this source for the file manager, then press Back. On some sets there is one Unknown sources switch under Settings → Security instead. Names vary by firmware version.
- Select Install, then Open.
- Remove the stick. The app stays installed.
How do I sign in afterwards?
The app opens on Sign in on this TV with an 8-character code and a QR code. On your phone, open aromaott.com/activate, enter the code and choose Yes, sign in. The code is valid for 10 minutes and works once.
What about updates?
The app checks aromaott.com for a newer version every time it starts and offers to install it. The first time, the TV may ask you to allow AromaOtt Player to install apps: turn on Allow from this source and press Back. You do not need the USB stick again. Updates come only from aromaott.com and are checked before they are installed.
What if it does not work?
- The TV does not see the stick: try another port, or reformat the stick as FAT32 on the computer (this erases it).
- The file manager does not show the APK: look in the stick's top level and check that the file ends in
.apk, not.apk.zipor similar. - "App not installed": an older copy with a different signature is installed; uninstall it first. Or the TV runs an Android version older than 7.1.
- "There was a problem parsing the package": the file was not copied completely. Download and copy it again.
- No way to allow the install: the switch is under the security or apps settings; look for Unknown sources or Install unknown apps.
Is this file safe to install?
Install only the file from aromaott.com. The address aromaott.com/apk always points to the current release published on aromaott.com/app, with no third-party file host in between. Do not install copies passed around by others.
