AromaOtt Player is a private video player for AromaOtt members: it plays the playlist your provider set up on your account, or an M3U or Xtream playlist you add yourself. It is free for members, runs on Android phones and tablets, Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV and in a web browser, and it contains no channels, movies or series of its own.

Who is AromaOtt Player for?

The player is made for a limited group of members. Accounts are activated by the operator: there is no public sign-up in the app or on aromaott.com. If you do not have a member account yet, the app cannot do anything for you, because it has nothing to show until a playlist is assigned to you or you add one.

Once your account is active, you sign in with your username and password, with a one-time activation code, or, on a TV, with a code you approve on your phone.

What does "a player with no content of its own" mean?

AromaOtt Player is software that reads a playlist and plays the streams in it. It does not come with channels, films or series, and it does not sell or point you to any. What you see in Live TV, Movies and Series comes from one of two places:

  • the provider playlist: what your provider assigned to your member account;
  • your own playlists: an M3U link or an Xtream login you add in Settings → Playlist, when your provider allows it. Only add playlists you are entitled to use.

If a section of your playlist is empty, the player says so instead of filling it with anything.

Which devices can I use?

  • Android phones and tablets, Android 7.1 or newer, with the app installed from aromaott.com/app.
  • Android TV and Google TV, through the Downloader app and the short address aromaott.com/apk.
  • Fire TV Stick, 2nd generation or newer, the same way.
  • Web browsers on a computer, phone or tablet, including Safari on iPhone and iPad, through the web player at aromaott.com.
  • Samsung and LG smart TVs only through the TV's own web browser. It works on many recent models, but browsers differ from model to model and some may not play every stream.

The app is not in Google Play or the Amazon Appstore. You install it from aromaott.com, and it then updates itself from there.

What can the player do?

The Android app plays video through Android's own player with hardware decoding, which is smoother on TV sticks and allows 4K or surround sound when your device and the stream support it. On top of that:

  1. Live TV with categories, channels and a preview, separate searches for categories and channels, an A–Z strip and recently opened categories at the top.
  2. Movies and Series with posters by category, details, seasons and episodes, watched marks and resume points.
  3. Favourites and My List to keep what you watch often one step away.
  4. Several playlists, with a switcher on the home screen and a notice a few days before a playlist or your access expires.
  5. TV-friendly controls: big screens, arrow-key navigation, channel up and down, and sign-in with a code from your phone.
  6. Settings for the live stream format, the buffer size, the theme (light, dark or automatic), navigation sounds and the app language: English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish or Dutch.
  7. Diagnostics under Settings → About, which shows what the device fetched and played, without passwords or full addresses.

How does it handle playlists that refuse servers?

Some providers refuse streams that come from data centres but accept a home connection. For playlists set to play on your device, the Android app (2.2.2 or later) loads the lists and the streams itself, from your own connection. In a browser this is harder, because a secure page cannot open plain http addresses; the web player then offers the options your browser supports, explained in the article on direct play.

What does it cost?

The player itself is free for members. The service you watch through it is a separate subscription. aromaott.com does not take payments and does not sell anything.

How do I start?

  1. Get your member access from the operator.
  2. Install the app on your device, or open the web player in a browser.
  3. Sign in with your account or your activation code.
  4. Open Live TV, Movies or Series and start watching what your playlist contains.
